Research aids

Other than our publications, we also have other means to help researchers into the philately of New Zealand and her Dependencies.

Library Listing

The most recent published printed listing of the contents of the Library of the RPSNZ was published in 2007.  In February 2015, the Council decided to have the listing updated, but as a service to stamp collectors, to make the new edition freely available via this website.

Archives

Since its formation in 1888, the RPSNZ has been generating and accumulating paper, and various items of ephemera.  Recently through the efforts of a previous Archivist, the late Robin Startup RDP, FRPSNZ, FRPSL, the Society's Archive was sorted, documented and boxed.    Papers relating to the Society itself, notably minute books and the like, have been donated to the public Alexander Turnbull Library manuscript collection.

The remaining items are held next to the Office and can be perused onsite by members.  Copies of most items can be made upon request, but at a charge.

The full description of the Archive holdings, including those now at the Alexander Turnbull Library, is available here as a searchable PDF, to assist researchers into the stamps of New Zealand, and the history of local philately.

Hidden Treasures

While indexes are available for several major journals with content relating to New Zealand philately, other interesting articles and notes have appeared over time in a variety of other publications.
These include special Exhibition publications, Society anniversary special monographs and various regional or stamp dealer journals.
To assist the student of New Zealand philately to find these "hidden treasures" work is underway to locate these articles and add them to a bibliography.

Updated for April 2011, the listing is available sorted by Publication or by Subject/Age.  As PDF's, further text searching is also possible.
